The registration fees for the 2010/2011 season are now posted. For players in Divisional, U13 and up, the fee is now $250 for returning players. This is a substantial increase from last season's $140. KLM was able to keep fees artificially low due to funding we had received from the provincial government through their Casino Funds.
Last year we did not receive the $22,000 that we applied for, nor do we anticipate (or have we budgeted to receive) these grants from the provincial government this season. With this loss of revenue, the Board had to review the Club’s fee structure and come up with new fees. Divisional player costs are the highest based on team/player affiliation fees (monies we have to pay VYSA and CSA for each registered player), equipment costs, uniform costs, game officiating expenses, travel expenses for teams having to take a ferry for their games, increased practice time on synthetic turf fields and more league and cup games being played on synthetic turf fields. Synthetic turf field times are charged to each club at $22/hour. A review of other eastside clubs shows that KLM’s fees are well within the range of increases other clubs have made for this season. While some club fees may appear lower than KLM, a careful review of their fee structure reveals additional charges such as a volunteer buy-out (extra money a parent pays for not volunteering for one of the many jobs/positions within the club), charges for team photos, etc. The KLM fees cover everything. There are no hidden costs. Each team will now have money towards a wind-up party plus each team will have their entry cost for one tournament paid for this season, each team will have player development time and each team will have quality practice times and more games being played on synthetic turf fields with lighting, instead gravel fields and soggy grass fields. For those players who have already paid a $100 deposit, we will now require $150 more. For those players that have not yet registered, the registration fee will be the full $250. As always, the club offers some options for families having difficulties coming up with the registration fees. Please look at our registration page for more information. |
