Winter TeamsKLM fields two men’s winter teams. The teams are named KLM Alemania and they play in the Masters (35 and over league) and open age group category. Both teams have their home field at Kensington and play Saturdays or Sundays (usually in the afternoon). The contact persons for the open age team is Mike Martins (coach) and James Pocher (manager). For the masters team it’s Jeff McCallum and Scott Zorbakis both (coach/manager). Between the two teams there are 35 to 40 players many (almost half) have a connection with KLM or Kensington soccer. Many have played with KLM in recent years. Some as far back as the 70’s and 80’s. Alemania has been around in men’s soccer since the late 60's. The club was previously sponsored by the Vancouver Alpen German Club located at Victoria and 33rd. At one point, back in the eighties Kensington had a team called Kensington Alemania which was sponsored by them. That sponsorship has since ceased. Summer TeamsKLM fields two men's summer teams. One team, KLM alemania plays in the Richmond Legue and is coached my Mike Martins. the other KLM team plays in the Vancouver League and is managed by Jim Bailey. The KLM Alemania team is set up to develop U17 and U18 players. The youth players are mixed together with some wily veterans to mentor the young lads. The experience that they gain at this level is huge. |
